Automation
Development of tools for analyzing mechanical vehicle systems of gears and crankshafts. Gears: development of a gear test bench that allows research in the areas of torque capacity, noise and vibration level (NVH), torque efficiency and thermal behavior. Crankshafts: incorporate virtual design techniques into the current FCA processes to eliminate or reduce the need for prototypes, developing the concept of a fatigue test bench.

Metallurgy
Based on the demands of the São Paulo State Department of Economic Development (SDE), the ‘Development of the Metal Component Production Chain through Additive Manufacturing’ research group was established. This group includes the participation of six institutions from the state of São Paulo (IPT, ITA, EPUSP, EESC-USP, UFSCar, and IPEN) and one international institution (Fraunhofer-IPK). The group was designed with partnership plans that will enable the future development of new research lines, stronger ties with the industry, and the adoption of additive manufacturing technology through the creation of a manufacturing connections center and outreach initiatives for different audiences.
Development of a highly innovative process through automatic alignment with industrial robots using a program called cooperative movement, which is not common in Brazil.
Development of robotic systems and final effectors applied to industrial robots to perform the tasks necessary to manufacture aircraft wings.
Due to the technological gap, the project aimed to investigate the proposal for a method of magnetic surface scanning through the Hall effect, without using component magnetization.
Development of online monitoring tools to reduce manual interventions during the try-out phase of sheet forming dies.
Development of metal-polymer gears manufactured by additive manufacturing
Investigate the evolution of the microstructure and surface integrity of special steels with additions of niobium and titanium, along a manufacturing chain representative of the gear industry.
The application of the “integrated product development” method to the design of the powertrain component manufacturing chain; The execution of the potential behavior map of the Gears of Powder Metallurgy (PM).
Development of a database to understand the interaction between surfaces and their connection with the finishing state, in order to optimize the screw connection used to close a planetary gearbox.
Evaluation of the technical feasibility of developing a wind turbine with a horizontal axis rotor and vertical transmission. Through an innovative configuration, the repositioning of the nacelle that transports the main components to the base of the tower was investigated.
